Easy snowflake christmas card

Hello my followers, today I want to show you another way to easily create a beautiful christmas or winter greeting card. You need following materials:

  • watercolor paper
  • printer paper
  • pencil
  • brush
  • masking fluid
  • watercolor paint
  • salt

Do you wonder about the fineline applicator? Then check out this video I made for you.

All products that I use I add at the end of this blog as affiliate links. May you want to support me a bit on this way.

At first you can download and print my snowflake template here.

If you do not have transfer paper, then ink the back of the print with a pencil.

Now position the snowflake on your watercolorpaper. The inked backside should point downwards. Transfer the snowflake by using a pencil or a ballpoint pen to follow the snowflake shape.

Tip: Fix the template with washitape or a paperclip on the watercolor paper so that it does not slip during the transfer.

Now apply gently the masking fluid on the snowflake. It does not matter if something goes wrong.

Let it dry by itself until it is bone dry. Don’t use hairdryer or some other heating source. It can melt the maskingfluid into the paper and then it is ruined.

Now you must work a bit quicker. It is important that the paper is bonedry. Apply enough watercolor paint with enough pigments on the paper.

While the paint is still wet, sprinkle some salt on it. And let it dry until everything is bonedry. Again don’t use any heating source.

As always now comes the best part. Remove gently the salt and then the masking fluid by rubbing it with your fingers or an eraser. I use my fingers wrapped in a piece of paper towel.

Don’t you think this is easy? I could have choosed a darker blue then the frozen effects of the salt would be better to see. But I really like how it comes out.

Now you can cut it and glue it on a prepared cardstock paper.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Please let me know and write me a note (eMail, Facebook Message) and maybe subscribe to this blog to not miss any new post I made.
