They are finally here, my studio box full of 60 Pitt artist pens from Faber-Castell. It’s the complete set only 4 metalic pens are not in this box. The pens are equipped with a brush tip and filled with water-resistant light-resistant artist’s ink. I have always sketched with these pencils as you know, only I had a few colors that pushed me to the limit. Now I have the wide selection. Löwenstatue

So kurz vor meinen Aufnahmen zu einem neuen YouTube Tutorial dachte ich mir, muss ich noch einen Blogpost machen. Und wenn es nur eine Tuscheskizze ist. Ich habe für diese Löwenstatue Gebrauch von meinen PITT artist Pens von Faber-Castell gemacht. Ich habe die kalten Grautöne verwendet. Als Vorzeichnung habe ich einen XS PITT artist Pen in schwarz genommen. Das Bild selber habe ich zufällig aus Pixabay ausgewählt. Anfänglich habe ich nur den Löwen auf dem Sockel gezeichnet. Radtour

Gestern haben wir mit der Familie eine 20 km Radtour gemacht. Das Wetter war einfach traumhaft. So konnte ich nicht widerstehen bei zwei Pausen das Skizzenbuch zu zücken. Zu sehen sind oben die Mühle auf dem Egelsberg und unten ein Blick auf den Elfrather See. Bei den Seglern war es schwierig. So wie sie auf dem Bild abgebildet sind waren sie​ nie zu sehen. Ich habe sie nacheinander gezeichnet als sie ins Blickfeld kamen. Das führte zu einem kleinen Fehler. Der linke Segler ist viel zu klein für den Vordergrund. Er müsste viel weiter nach hinten. Qualle

Es ist warm bzw. heiß und das Meer zu weit weg. Auf Freibad habe ich keine Lust. So habe ich heute im Garten ein kühles Motiv gemalt. Ich hoffe diese Tierchen in meinem Meeresurlaub nicht anzutreffen. Aber schön sind sie ja schon. Ich habe mal wieder Cèzanne Aquarellpapier verwendet. 300g schwer und hot pressed. Als erstes habe ich meinen Block in vier Bereiche eingeteilt und mit etwas Klebeband voreinander geschützt. Die Fläche oben links habe ich dann mit reichlich Wasser befeuchtet. Gerade wenn man draußen malt trocknet alles schneller weg. Der nächste Schritt war das Einfärben. Zunächst einmal mit türkis.» Read more

Manche mögens scharf

Hallo Leute, es gibt ein neues Video. Ich liebe Chilis, auch wenn manche arg scharf sind. Hier habe ich drei Exemplare davon auf einem kleinen Stein verewigt. Im oben verlinkten Video zeige ich mit kurzen Erklärungen wie man diesen tollen 3D Effekt hinbekommt. Das A und O von 3D Effekten sind kurz gesagt die Schatten. Wenn man diese richtig positioniert und dazu noch ein paar Lichtpunkte setzt, sieht es aus als ob die Chilis auf dem Stein tatsächlich draufliegen und man sie nur einfach runter nehmen möchte. New landscapes

I finally won the fight with Hahnemühle’s handmade watercolor paper (Cézanne), as I think. I have already started several times or tried to paint something on this paper, but it looked like a child spill. I used until this point rough cold-pressed watercolor paper (Britannia) made of wood fibers. This is also from Hahnemühle and it allowed me an excellent work back and forth. Without a brush

There is a trend, growing more and more. Painting without a brush. I think that’s an exciting topic. I really wanted to try it myself. So I grabbed latex disposable gloves and just started. Please always wear gloves the colors consist of earth and minerals which are partially poisonous. My experience is, you need more color than normal, maybe I should have used more water. It is very exciting to feel the color under your fingers. Fine details are very hard to create. But this beach painting is quite grateful for big “strokes”.
