Water-soluble oil paints, meduim L & medium W

Hello friends, as you may have noticed on Facebook, Instagram or YouTube, I am experimenting with oil colors and two oil mediums. I have two sorts of oil paints. First are normal oil paints (Norma von Schmincke) and second are water-soluble oil paints (Berlin by Lukas). What bothered me about the oil painting so far was the odor of the thinner. Yes, there are also odorless thinner, but I’m just not sure if there is something escapes but we just do not smell. At first I got the medium W from Schmincke. With this medium you can make normal oil» Read more

I have I thought it is once again time for a small photo tutorial for a painting what I have named “deers in winter”. If you want to own the original painting click here. At first I have searched for a nice reference photo for the deers on Pixabay. This I needed to create easily the outlines. The paper I used is 300 gsm watercolor paper from Hahnenmühle. It’s the rough version. I really love the texture. I primed the paper with two layers of white gesso from Schmincke. You don’t have to do that, but in my case there» Read more

Ink fun

Hi friends, today there are excerpts from my sketchbook again. This fills up more and more. There are now only 1.5 pages left. It took me nearly 2 years to fill it. My original plan was to sketch something every day to fill it in at most one year. With the next sketchbook I should follow this plan better.Let’s start with two live sketches. First, it is a bridge over a lake in the local park and on the other a plant study of a soldier button plant. The latter reminds me of my childhood as soon as I see her.» Read more

PITT artist ink pens

They are finally here, my studio box full of 60 Pitt artist pens from Faber-Castell. It’s the complete set only 4 metalic pens are not in this box. The pens are equipped with a brush tip and filled with water-resistant light-resistant artist’s ink. I have always sketched with these pencils as you know, only I had a few colors that pushed me to the limit. Now I have the wide selection. And I already did the first test with them in the ICE yesterday at 300 km/h. My favorite motive of the ladybugs had to serve it. Of course, you» Read more

Eagle head

On such a beautiful Sunday I like to push the office work in front of me and lie with Sherlock Holmes in the ears on the garden furniture and swing some of my Pitt artist pens Faber-Castell. This time, a bald eagle had to serve. Due to limited color choices, the beak and eye color are not quite accurate, but I did my best.» Read more
